The Centre for Workplace Skills is an independent, national organization led by Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME) and The Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) and funded by the Government of Canada’s Sector Council Program. We bring together business, labour and other groups with an interest in workplace skills development in order to promote effective practices in workplace learning.

The joint leads of the Centre are Ken Georgetti, President of the Canadian Labour Congress and Jayson Myers, President & CEO of Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters.  A joint committee of senior members of the CLC and the CME help steer the activities of the Centre.

Over the years, Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters and the Canadian Labour Congress have  promoted the idea that partnerships involving workplace decision makers are the key to addressing Canada’s major workplace skills issues. The Centre for Workplace Skills strengthens and expands this partnership by connecting a broad national network of organizations and individuals committed and passionate about workplace skills.

The Canadian Labour Congress is the major Canadian labour organization and represents over 3 million Canadian workers. The CLC brings together Canada's national and international unions, the provincial and territorial federations of labour and 130 district labour councils.

Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters  is Canada’s leading trade and industry association and the voice of manufacturing and global business in Canada. The association represents more than 10,000 leading companies nationwide. More than 85% of CME’s members are small and medium‐sized enterprises. As Canada’s leading business network, CME, through various initiatives including icosmo.ca and the establishment of the Canadian Manufacturing Coalition, touches more than 100,000 companies from coast to coast, engaged in manufacturing, global business and service‐related industries. CME’s membership network accounts for an estimated 82% of total manufacturing production and 90% of Canada’s exports.
